Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty)
Age, sun exposure and hereditary factors all contribute to wrinkles, deep lines and puffiness around the eyes. Blepharoplasty can improve the appearance of baggy eyelids and puffiness by tightening excess skin and repositioning and removing excess fat. An eyelid lift or blepharoplasty performed by an experienced surgeon, is designed to restore a more youthful appearance to your eyes. It may involve the upper lids, the lower lids, or both.

What is Blepharoplasy or Eyelid Surgery?
Blepharoplasty or eyelid surgery also known as eye lift, has gone through a significant transformation over the past few years. Traditionally, eyelid surgery involves the removal of significant fat, skin and muscle in order to obtain what is perceived as “youthful” eyes. This approach can result in hollowness of the eye area and a “cat-like” look of the corner of the eyes that looks unnatural and changes the entire appearance of the person. Also, complications were more common with these types of procedures. In Today’s contemporary cosmetic surgery, we know that the aging changes around the eyes do not just involve sagging skin. It has multiple components such as loss of skin elasticity, drooping of the eyebrows and cheek fat pads and weakness of supporting eyelid structures that lead to puffiness under the eyes. In the evaluation of aging eyes the forehead and mid face also need to be thoroughly evaluated.
What Can I expect from this procedure? What is the recovery like?
After having an eyelid surgery, you should expect to have fresher look and people may comment on how refreshed you look. A good eyelid surgery performed by an experienced surgeon will provide natural, long lasting results. Bruising around the eyes are common and will last 3-5 days. Make up and ice packs around the eyes may help reduce the amount and duration of swelling. Stitches will dissolve and we rarely need to remove stitches after this procedure.
Will there be much pain or discomfort after the procedure?
